Our lives in the city have changed over the years, with both parents going to work and living in a nuclear family. There is a constant juggling between work and personal life, putting added pressure on the family.
On the other hand, young children are inundated with information, sensory overload, which impacts the healthy development of the child. The effect of this shows up in later years like loss of interest, lack of focus, anxiety disorders, nervousness and various types of burn-outs.
There is a need to lay strong foundations in early growing years and provide a nourishing, caring, secured and a stress-free environment to a young child.
Daycare – A home away from home
Nowadays, children as young as 8 months to 1 year of age are dependent on a daycare center. When a child leaves the secured environment of their home and steps into a new space, there is resistance, hesitancy and some kind of insecurity.
As adults and early childhood educators, the onus rests on us to create an environment for the child that can be a home away from home for the child that also focuses on the child’s changing needs.
When the daycare offers a warm, cosy and secured environment, the child settles in his new environment with ease, not to mention the parents as well. What does the Daycare Teacher Training Course offer?
Young children are like sponges who absorb everything present in their environment, imitating adults around them. This intensive course works on cultivating a healthy inner life for caregivers and daycare professionals/teachers.
- Understanding the needs and what are the vital elements that support a healthy development of a growing child (Birth until 7 years)
- How to engage the child in our care through understanding, thoughtful planning and finally integrating what we have learnt through the course into preparing one’s own daycare curriculum suiting their group of children they work with.
- The curriculum would include helping the teacher to mindfully select artistic and meaningful activities, age appropriate stories, toys and playthings,
- What is the role of the daycare coordinator/ teacher/ in charge / caregiver and how can she be an inspiration for all – the inside-out approach.
- Learning the artistic approach through practically learning how to create a nourishing physical environment for children ~ crafting toys, puppets and much more planning and weaving creativity into the work for children – be it managing or bringing in creative discipline, planning activities, storytelling, singing, movement, finger rhymes or playing circle games – indoor and outdoors.
- How to build healthy relationships with the community of parents, the in-house team, and with oneself.

All daycare heads, coordinators / teacher/ in charge / caregivers / individuals aspiring to set up their own daycare centers, after school hours programs.

Additional Support Program (ASP):
- Guidance for planning for setting up of the daycare center in a child-friendly manner which will include furniture, fixtures, furnishing, toys, daycare management and other requirements for the daycare. We would also, along with the person in charge, plan the space and layout – the shelves, play area, kitchen area, sleeping area and other areas.
- Class observations (to-be charged separately)and give feedback for a smooth integration of the teachings and learnings.
- We will hand hold the entire team through online interactive sessions on Zoom to smoothly implement the curriculum and also have problem-solving sessions with creative methods.
- Review visits, if required, will be charged for separately.

“My journey as a daycare in charge at Swadhaa was enhanced after the completion of Foundation Course – Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training with Preeti and Sucheta.
